Tea or Coffee

Do you have a preference for either tea or coffee?

Me, I’m a fan of a cup of hot tea with a little milk and honey. As a child I always remember waking up to the sound of my dad grinding coffee beans with our cylindrical coffee grinder that we still have. While I thought the smell of coffee beans was interesting and I did like chocolate-covered coffee beans, I could never swallow a sip of black coffee without adding things to it. I did go through a period where I’d always buy one of those pre-bottled Starbucks sweetened coffees when at the grocery store but eventually I started to like them less.

My friend’s younger brother liked drinking black coffee. He ordered a cup when our families were at the closing ceremony for the Porsche parade in San Diego and the waiter did a double take. He asked my friend’s brother if he wanted cream or sugar for the coffee and the brother politely told him no thanks. (Then again, I doubt that the waiter had ever served a cup of black coffee to a 7/8 year old boy with a high-pitched voice and a smile on his face.) The waiter even waited until my friend’s brother took a sip before leaving to check on another table.

Remember September

I was in 5th grade when the Twin Towers collapsed and I remember my homeroom teacher turning on the TV to see the footage. I didn’t understand the gravity of the situation nor did I understand what was happening. My teacher prompted us to write about what we saw and I remember struggling to find words to write about what I saw. Everything clicked when my parents explained it to me later at home.

Where were you in 2001 on 9/11?

New and Nervous

Who hasn’t had the feeling of butterflies in their stomach when they think about something new and unexpected happening to them in their life? I know I’m experiencing it now as I prepare things for my new radio show with Chapman Radio.

While it can be nerve racking for me to think about now, I know it will be a good outlet for me in between all of the classes and craziness I have going on.

Hope everyone out there is having a good week and feels ready to take on whatever life throws at them this week. In the words of Nike, Game On World.

Fun or A Fine Mess? Fashion Night Out Tomorrow.

FNO or Fashion Night Out, either way you’ve read about it or heard about it, its tomorrow night. According to the official website, it started in 2009 as an event to celebrate fashion, boost¬†sales in a tough economy, and make shopping fun again. The event began in New York City and has expanded to include 18 international countries and multiple cities in the US that host their own events related to Fashion Night Out. Hosted on the second Thursday of September from 6-11 PM, big stores and boutiques alike stay open later and entertain shoppers with music, drinks, some store exclusives for Fashion Night Out, and in some stores, raffles or giveaways to bring people in.

For some, its a great event to support stores, dress up or down, and have a little fun out. For others, it means fierce shoppers, a madhouse at every store, and heartache.

Personally, I have never gone but I did envy some of the girls who were completely free to go with no classes the next day. After reading both sides of the argument about whether it can be fun or a nightmare, I’ve been rethinking the event.

What about all of you?
