Define Happy

Hey, where in the world has the author been? It’s almost been two months since we last saw her!

Instead of pleading the Fifth, how about I share with you some snapshots of my life while I was away from this wonderful blogging space:

Yes, multiple visits to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood were made during the months of April and May with good friends. Contrary to my expression in the first picture, I did try Butterbeer and thought it was interesting, but I preferred the Gillywater. 🙂

Early May was Spring Dapper Day at the Disneyland Resort and there was no shortage of Dapper Disneybounders like myself. It’s a no brainer for me to channel my favorite Lucky Rabbit.

I guess you could say that the month of April and May were spent trying to reconnect with old friends and making new memories. Many of these people I haven’t seen in almost a year and now that many of us are working, getting married, or studying graduate or doctorate degrees, we hardly have time to hang out and just have fun without the worries. These three images are only the tip of the iceberg in terms of time spent with friends and family, but I like to think that in those months, I said yes to more fun times than ever.

All right gang, how about you? Any exciting, magical events take place while I was gone?

So This is 2014 and What Have You Done?

Funny how a line from a music legend has rung true in my mind for the past few months. 2013 is coming to a close and I was inspired by a Facebook post that a friend of mine did where she listed the accomplishments of this year off.

  1. Began interning with my dream company that has always been a part of my life, The Walt Disney Company.
  2. Partook in my first ever Dapper Day at Disneyland with some good friends.
  3. Completed my senior thesis in May.
  4. Walked with the students of Chapman University graduating in 2013.
  5. Watched panels in the infamous Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, including The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
  6. Introduced some of my favorite artists to the WonderGround Gallery crew and began working with them to create Disney art with a twist.
  7. Connected with multiple artists on a personal basis and formed some great professional relationships and connections.
  8. Attempted (through trial and error) to bake French macarons. (Still perfecting the recipe!)
  9. Completed my first National Blogging Month challenge on this blog. (Click on November to read all of the posts.)

Well, Ya Been Real Swell

Diane Disney Miller passed away today at age 79. She was a driving force in the Disney company name after her father’s passing, especially with The Walt Disney Concert Hall and The Walt Disney Family Museum.

I remember a friend of mine attended the 50th anniversary and she made a wonderful speech about her father and the legacy he left with the company and the original Disneyland park which started out as a mere dream, a folly to most people. Who knew that it would evolve into the location dubbed “The Happiest Place on Earth”?

While I never met Diane or ever came in close contact with her, I admire her love for her father and the bond she shared with him. Even after he left this world, she always seemed to be happy and gracious to help the company with the various projects. She protected him and in a way, it seemed like she continued to view her dad as a hero, like she most likely did as a young girl.

Making Memories with a Little Bit of Pixie Dust

I failed to mention this earlier, but in December I was offered a position with the WonderGround Gallery in Disneyland Resort as their new professional intern. I’ve been working with them since January and I love it!

Yesterday I was given special employee tickets for the Disneyland Resort parks to give to my friends and family to use with me. The tickets expire tomorrow and I hated to see them go to waste, so I asked my friends if they happened to be free and interested in going on Tuesday. A good friend of mine and her boyfriend mentioned that Tuesday was their 3 year anniversary and they had no plans yet for celebrating it. Another two friends who I haven’t seen in years wanted to visit the park after hearing about the World of Color.

Apparently my friend and her boyfriend declared that this was the best anniversary ever. My other two friends couldn’t stop smiling as they walked through the gates of California Adventure.
